Peacocks sells out of £10 version of £9,000 'must have' Chloe bag

     It is the hottest 'It bag' of the moment.     A spokesman for Peacocks said the demand has in part been fuelled by celebrities such as model Daisy Lowe and socialite Olivia Palermo, who have been spotted wearing school-style satchels. Another of this season's most popular bags - Mulberry's 'Alexa' bag, named after TV presenter Alexa Chung Chloe Handbags- is also a vintage-style satchel. The spokesman added: 'Satchels are the new chic. They are bang on-trend and bring any outfit up to date. We have to admit we hadn't anticipated the level of demand. 'But knock-off versions of designer items are extremely popular.

    'It's due to the "lipstick factor" which sees cash-strapped shoppers turning to inexpensive accessories to update their wardrobes.'Since the economic downturn there has been a major rise in the popularity of designer-imitation accessories.High street chains are quick to take their cue from the catwalks and reproduce the accessories and clothing of the fashion elite.

    A spokeswoman for Peacocks said: 'The high street often follows the catwalk but there is always some delay.
 'There is a battle for chains like ours to get new lines into the shops as quickly as possible.

    'Our satchel is an example of this. It was an exceptionally quick turnout.'Chloe’s  influence  on  this  season’s  high  street  is  not  exclusive to handbags.

    Its mid-heel is also proving popular, sparking many imitations.
